• Cambodia Gambling Dens

There is an interesting history to the Cambodia gambling halls that sit just across the border from next door Thailand, where casino betting is banned. Eight casinos are situated in a relatively tiny location in the city of Poipet in Cambodia. This band of Cambodia gambling halls is in an excellent area, a three to four hour travel from Bangkok and Macao, the two largest gaming locations in Asia. Cambodia gambling dens do a huge business with Thai workers and guests from Malaysia, Japan, South Korea, and Singapore, with just a few Westerners. The amazing income accrued from the gambling halls ranges from seven and a half million dollars to more than 12.5 million dollars, and there are a few controls requirements for gambling hall ownership. Ownership is presumed to be mostly Thai; although, funding sources are vague. The borders are ceremoniously open from 09:00 to 17:00, and even though visas are apparently required to cross, there are ways around this, as is correct of many border crossings.

The initial Cambodia casinos premiered in Phnom Penh in the mid nineties, but were required to close in the late nineties, leaving only 1 casino in the capital, the Naga Resort. The Naga, an anchored ship casino, features 150 one armed bandits and sixty tables. The Naga river boat is open all day and night with forty two tables of mini-baccarat, four tables of blackjack, 10 of roulette, 2 of Caribbean Stud Poker, and one each of Pai-Gow and Tai-Sai.

The initial casino in Poipet, the Holiday Palace, premiered in the late nineties and the Golden Crown soon followed. There are 150 slots and 5 table games at the Golden Crown and 104 one armed bandits and 68 table games at the Holiday Palace. The latest Holiday Palace Casino and Resort highlights three hundred one armed bandits and seventy table games and the Princess Hotel and Casino, also in Poipet, has 166 one armed bandits and 96 table games, including eighty seven baccarat (the most beloved game), Fan Tan, and Pai Gow. Additionally, there is the Casino Tropicana, with 135 slot machine games and 66 of the familiar tables, as well as one table of Casino Stud Poker. Another one of the eight gambling dens in Poipet, again in a hotel, is the Princess Casino with 166 slot machines and 97 casino games. The Star Vegas Casino is is located in an all-around resort and hotel complex that highlights numerous comforts on top of the gambling den, which provides 10,000 sq.ft. of one hundred and thirty one armed bandits and eighty eight gaming tables.
